Tasks / Deliverables Summary of Role The Intermediate System Specialist will provide system engineering support for Military C4ISR and tactical communication systems across the full system lifecycle. This includes planning, integration, validation, and operational support of distributed and client/server command and control environments, ensuring alignment with Defence operational requirements and enterprise strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, configure, and manage command and control communication and information systems in deployed or distributed environments.
Support operational employment of tactical communication and ISTAR systems.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and sustainment support in mission-critical environments.
Develop and execute integration, verification, validation, and acceptance test plans.
Coordinate lab, field, and operational testing activities.
Resolve integration defects and performance issues across hardware, software, and network domains.
Conduct root cause analysis for complex system-level issues.
Perform impact and risk assessments related to architectural or configuration changes.
Develop mitigation strategies to address technical risks.
Provide escalation support for high-priority operational incidents.
Requirements
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for Secret level Federal Security Clearance(generally requires 10 years of residence in Canada)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Systems, Software, Electrical, Network Engineering or related technical field
Minimum 72 months within the last 96 months of demonstrated system engineering experience in Military C4ISR, tactical communication, or ISTAR environments, including experience in at least four of the following areas:
Planning, configuring, deploying, employing, and managing command and control communication and information systems in distributed, mobile platform, or client/server environments.
Identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex communication and information system or ISTAR system issues, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Analyzing requirements and designing and/or implementing technical solutions for communication and information systems or ISTAR systems.
Developing and documenting system management tools, processes, and procedures supporting command and control communication systems in mobile or distributed environments.
Performing system integration, verification, and validation of hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom-developed) within new or existing systems.
Supporting life-cycle management activities for tactical communication and information systems or ISTAR systems, including sustainment, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
Minimum 48 months of experience preparing technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in IT / engineering domains
Language Requirements
Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required for this role.
