Senior GIS Developer

Ottawa, ON
  • Develop, customize, and maintain GIS applications using ArcGIS, QGIS, FME, or equivalent GIS software.

  • Conduct geospatial data analysis, mapping, and visualization to support decision-making.

  • Design, implement, and manage spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.).

  • Automate geoprocessing workflows using Python, ModelBuilder, or FME Workbench.

  • Develop web-based GIS applications using JavaScript, Leaflet, OpenLayers, or Esri APIs.

  • Integrate GIS solutions with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, asset management platforms, etc.).

  • Deploy and manage cloud-based GIS solutions (ArcGIS Online, AWS, Azure, Google Earth Engine).

  • Provide technical support and training for GIS users within the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with government geospatial data standards and security policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in GIS development.

  • GIS Software Expertise: Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, FME, or other GIS platforms.

  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, SQL, or other languages used in geospatial development.

  • Database Management: Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server).

  • Geospatial Data Analysis: Strong understanding of spatial analysis, coordinate systems, and data transformation.

  • Web GIS Development: Experience building web mapping applications with Leaflet, OpenLayers, or Esri APIs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning and AI for geospatial analysis.

  • Knowledge of remote sensing, LiDAR processing, and satellite imagery analysis.

  • Experience integrating GIS solutions with enterprise asset management systems.

  • Familiarity with geospatial data security and open data policies.
