Network Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, maintain and configure network equipment and components;
  • Plan the integration of networks, provide network analysis, and maintain network operations as required;
  • Implement, monitor, and manage particular facets of network technologies;
  • Provide technical support for networks and network-related activities. Work with vendor representatives and other computing resources to resolve hardware and software problems;
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations;
  • Maintain network security and implement disaster recovery procedures;
  • Install or coordinate installation of network hardware and software as well as network upgrades according to vendor instructions;
  • Configure networking equipment with assistance from vendor or other computing resources;
  • Prepare and maintain procedure manuals and network design documentation for internal use;
  • Analyze requirements, make recommendations, develop, document and implement the design for a Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) overlay solution for the environment;
  • Design network implementation plans for specific technologies;
  • Analyze system and network capacity and performance to recommend modifications for improved efficiency and cost effectiveness;
  • Brief technical details to project team;
  • Liaise with technical staff from related projects, DND groups, other government department (OGD), and external partners to determine and coordinate the technical and interface requirements, and to ensure solution integrity, interface compatibility, performance, reliability and maintainability;
  • Prepare documentation to allow for transition of current or future tasks and enable continuity of tasks/deliverables, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of twelve (12) months of work experience within the last five (5) years (from date of solicitation) in implementing and supporting network engineering activities using Juniper Networks equipment and software.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the last fifteen (15) years working in the development and implementation of networking solutions and network infrastructure in at least three (3) of the following areas:  Access switching; Data centre switching (e.g., spine-leaf); Firewalls and network security devices; Data centre interconnect (DCI) solutions; Data centre network design and implementation; Data centre disaster recovery design and implementation.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the last fifteen (15) years working in the development and implementation of networking and networking infrastructures intended for either deployment in classified domains or for large enterprise customers. This includes any of the following work: Documenting systems current state and/or deficiencies; Conducting product assessments and evaluations; Conducting proof of concept test and validation activities; Providing integration and implementation strategy and transition planning documentation to support implementation activities;
    Providing solution and architecture documentation (e.g., system design specifications, Concept of Operations); and Identifying and documenting in service support impacts.

DURATION:

  • 1 year plus 2 possible extensions
