The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) uses Oracle as the standard database onboard all its vessels for all its IBM Maximo installs. With Maximo, Oracle is deployed to each vessel as the underlying Database Management system. With the AMS Large vessel project, all CCG Vessels will have a Maximo and oracle system installed on board. The AMS Large Vessel project will ensure that all 50+ Coast Guard vessels have oracle as their database installed to support the IBM Maximo software. The two pieces together make up the entire application.   a. Attend a kick-off meeting with the CCG Project Authority to discuss the objectives and requirements of the mandate. The meeting will take place within one (1) week of contract award at CCG Facilities in Ottawa or by teleconference (as determined by the CCG Project Authority). b. Review key internal and external documents identified or provided by the CCG Project Authority during the kick-off meeting to obtain contextual information. c. Discuss the approach & methodology with the CCG Project Authority for approval. Specific tasks include: i. Knowledge transfer and mentoring services to CCG personnel or contractors conducted through one on one meetings, updating team members during team meetings, writing documentation as described by the Project Authority and updating Azure DevOps tickets as required;   ii. Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s requirements;   iii. Design and implement database in accordance to system and vessel infrastructure needs;     iv. Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner; v. Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data; vi. Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses;   vii. Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users;   viii. Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards;   ix. Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity; x. Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required; and xi. Maintain vessel databases with continuous Oracle/OS security patches where necessary in accordance with department policy.
